Saalburg (Germany) — one of the eighteen real-world dig sites in Archaeological Expedition.
A reconstructed Roman cohort fort on the Limes Germanicus, set in the rolling Taunus hills north of Frankfurt. It was abandoned by the legions, scavenged for stone in the Frankish era, and surrounded by medieval castles in the centuries that followed.
