Lusterware Plate — uncommon Islamic artifact.
Tin-glazed ceramic plates with a distinctive metallic sheen were produced by Abbasid potters in 9th-century Iraq and later across the Islamic world. The luster technique involved painting metallic oxides over a white glaze and re-firing in a reducing kiln to produce an iridescent gold or copper surface.
